Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals, Banking and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 2.29%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 2.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 5.45% or 63.00 points to trade at 1,219.25 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 4.93% or 38.65 points to end at 823.05 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 4.42% or 316.90 points to 7,488.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which lost 0.95% or 2.00 points to trade at 208.80 in late trade. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) declined 0.13% or 5.65 points to end at 4,414.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) gained 0.01% or 0.05 points to 944.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 5.29% to 1,217.30, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 4.23% to settle at 7,475.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 3.58% to close at 3,092.50.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.07% to 208.50 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 0.24% to settle at 942.25 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 0.18% to 4,412.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1491 to 357 and 40 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2454 rose and 836 declined, while 125 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 8.40% to 19.57.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.97% or 16.55 to $1,718.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.81% or 0.68 to hit $84.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.83 to trade at $89.69 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.09% to 81.57, while EUR/INR rose 0.82% to 80.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 111.02.
