Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Auto and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 2.07%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 2.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which rose 5.56% or 151.55 points to trade at 2,874.95 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) added 5.31% or 118.60 points to end at 2,354.10 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 5.04% or 310.65 points to 6,472.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM), which lost 2.74% or 619.20 points to trade at 21,964.65 in late trade. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 2.12% or 4.50 points to end at 207.85 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) shed 2.07% or 3.70 points to 175.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 5.56% to 2,875.10, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 5.24% to settle at 2,353.80 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 5.13% to close at 6,473.00.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.89% to 208.05 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 1.57% to settle at 131.50 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.15% to 1,254.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1544 to 275 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2565 rose and 674 declined, while 92 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.92% to 27.47.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.09% or 22.30 to $2,021.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.88% or 2.32 to hit $121.38 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.43% or 1.83 to trade at $126.15 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.49% to 76.57, while EUR/INR rose 0.40% to 84.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 98.50.
