Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Auto and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.88%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 9.58% or 15.75 points to trade at 180.20 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 7.34% or 1098.05 points to end at 16065.00 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 5.78% or 49.15 points to 900.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which lost 0.92% or 1.85 points to trade at 199.40 in late trade. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 0.60% or 1.15 points to end at 191.00 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) shed 0.52% or 3.30 points to 629.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 6.17% to 903.05, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was up 5.52% to settle at 2294.25 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 4.95% to close at 386.80.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 0.55% to 191.10 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 0.19% to settle at 158.30 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.05% to 562.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1064 to 439 and 86 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1451 rose and 775 declined, while 146 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.01% to 30.0175 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.77% or 13.20 to $1723.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.52% or 0.50 to hit $32.31 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 0.38 to trade at $34.98 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 75.840, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 83.4655.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 99.000.
