Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Metals and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.66%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 6.19% or 17.55 points to trade at 302.35 at the close. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) added 6.31% or 423.75 points to end at 7135.45 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) was up 6.67% or 14.20 points to 225.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which lost 3.98% or 28.65 points to trade at 690.90 in late trade. Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) declined 3.37% or 11.10 points to end at 318.40 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) shed 1.74% or 42.75 points to 2423.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 6.37% to 7136.80, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 6.29% to settle at 190.00 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 6.04% to close at 225.75.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 3.29% to 319.10 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 1.28% to settle at 1909.80 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 0.65% to 662.05 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1039 to 562 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1538 rose and 1023 declined, while 134 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.01% to 18.2300.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 0.70 to $1236.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.27% or 0.17 to hit $63.52 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.09 to trade at $72.98 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.76% to 72.540, while EUR/INR fell 0.96% to 83.0015.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 95.86.
