Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Banking and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.64%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 5.21% or 19.35 points to trade at 390.55 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 4.61% or 35.25 points to end at 799.90 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 3.76% or 42.95 points to 1,185.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM), which lost 1.19% or 253.95 points to trade at 21,033.10 in late trade. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) declined 0.82% or 35.85 points to end at 4,324.85 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) shed 0.77% or 1.65 points to 212.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 4.49% to 799.75, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 3.78% to settle at 1,186.30 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 3.28% to close at 7,337.55.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.26% to 3,342.15 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 0.58% to settle at 4,333.95 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 0.32% to 332.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1339 to 485 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2226 rose and 1067 declined, while 93 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.27% to 19.97.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.40% or 6.75 to $1,675.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.30% or 0.24 to hit $81.47 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.25 to trade at $87.43 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 81.42, while EUR/INR fell 0.52% to 79.54.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 112.29.
