Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Auto and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.58%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 5.44% or 12.85 points to trade at 250.60 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) added 5.90% or 15.50 points to end at 278.10 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 5.40% or 9.85 points to 192.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which lost 1.56% or 35.25 points to trade at 2214.35 in late trade. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) declined 1.12% or 2.25 points to end at 198.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 0.82% or 4.80 points to 580.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which rose 6.14% to 79.50, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 5.18% to settle at 192.05 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 3.80% to close at 545.85.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.73% to 2216.00 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 0.95% to settle at 580.10 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 0.25% to 119.65 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1210 to 350 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1750 rose and 717 declined, while 183 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 10.50% to 13.9975.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.75% or 11.75 to $1548.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.18% or 0.11 to hit $59.72 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $65.47 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.22% to 71.349, while EUR/INR fell 0.16% to 79.2725.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 97.115.
