Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Green Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.35% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which rose 8.64% or 102.95 points to trade at 1,294.40 at the close. Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) added 7.22% or 7.25 points to end at 107.60 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 5.77% or 22.65 points to 415.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which lost 3.98% or 169.70 points to trade at 4,090.35 in late trade. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) declined 0.99% or 18.15 points to end at 1,810.35 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) shed 0.77% or 4.10 points to 528.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 7.27% to 107.65, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 5.45% to settle at 943.55 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 2.64% to close at 15,039.30.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 3.96% to 4,090.35 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 0.97% to settle at 1,810.80 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 0.77% to 528.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1187 to 627 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1998 rose and 1201 declined, while 141 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.72% to 16.55 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.52% or 9.10 to $1,759.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.16% or 2.08 to hit $98.50 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.97% or 2.01 to trade at $103.84 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.42% to 79.24, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 81.10.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 105.70.
