Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Power and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 4.17% or 47.85 points to trade at 1,195.70 at the close. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) added 4.02% or 23.10 points to end at 597.10 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 2.99% or 12.85 points to 442.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which lost 2.02% or 22.65 points to trade at 1,096.50 in late trade. Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) declined 1.99% or 69.65 points to end at 3,428.80 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) shed 1.43% or 61.85 points to 4,248.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 3.99% to 1,193.30, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 3.97% to settle at 596.75 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 2.74% to close at 105.00.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.49% to 4,247.55 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.24% to settle at 19,896.05 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 0.45% to 1,811.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1703 to 258 and 33 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2770 rose and 736 declined, while 131 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.41% to 15.93.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.60% or 10.70 to $1,806.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.40% or 1.86 to hit $79.35 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $84.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.15% to 82.65, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 87.80.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 104.04.
