Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Metals and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.13% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.90%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 13.65% or 13.45 points to trade at 111.95 at the close. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) added 8.73% or 15.20 points to end at 189.25 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was up 8.34% or 18.25 points to 237.15 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which lost 1.84% or 38.55 points to trade at 2053.00 in late trade. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 1.58% or 33.55 points to end at 2087.05 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) shed 1.36% or 38.25 points to 2779.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 7.90% to 187.80, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 6.00% to settle at 339.35 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 3.56% to close at 1039.00.

The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.19% to 2048.10 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 1.52% to settle at 2088.00 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 1.39% to 2780.00 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1363 to 214 and 36 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1963 rose and 477 declined, while 117 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.40% to 28.6800 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.87% or 15.10 to $1712.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.27% or 0.85 to hit $38.26 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 3.03% or 1.21 to trade at $41.20 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.27% to 75.644, while EUR/INR rose 0.16% to 85.6520.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 96.812.
