Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Technology and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.09% to hit a new 6-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 9.01% or 67.60 points to trade at 811.15 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 4.83% or 20.45 points to end at 442.80 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was up 4.01% or 14.70 points to 381.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which lost 2.09% or 3.35 points to trade at 155.90 in late trade. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 2.19% or 4.55 points to end at 202.35 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) shed 2.09% or 10.80 points to 506.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 3.84% to 1082.25, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 3.36% to settle at 318.40 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which gained 2.71% to close at 275.20.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.73% to 507.00 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 1.65% to settle at 157.60 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 1.53% to 2941.15 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1046 to 546 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1605 rose and 930 declined, while 169 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.32% to 16.6525.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.41% or 5.45 to $1311.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.64% or 0.38 to hit $59.03 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.43 to trade at $66.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 69.020, while EUR/INR fell 0.02% to 77.6580.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 96.530.
