Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Public Sector Undertakings and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.01%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which rose 3.45% or 18.75 points to trade at 562.40 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 3.15% or 24.80 points to end at 811.00 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 3.05% or 107.30 points to 3,622.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which lost 0.92% or 1.55 points to trade at 166.90 in late trade. Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) declined 0.61% or 14.40 points to end at 2,334.85 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) shed 0.53% or 20.00 points to 3,757.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 3.41% to 562.45, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 2.39% to settle at 340.25 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 2.38% to close at 19,385.00.
The worst performers were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 0.72% to 2,331.65 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 0.68% to settle at 166.95 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 0.24% to 1,020.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1164 to 648 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1939 rose and 1334 declined, while 124 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.24% to 17.45 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.38% or 6.40 to $1,657.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $84.50 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $91.68 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.19% to 82.33, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 80.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 112.22.
