Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Capital Goods and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.96%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which rose 3.04% or 26.35 points to trade at 894.00 at the close. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) added 2.72% or 14.00 points to end at 528.20 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 2.70% or 99.45 points to 3,786.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 1.33% or 9.10 points to trade at 675.00 in late trade. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 1.09% or 42.95 points to end at 3,882.65 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) shed 0.79% or 22.25 points to 2,778.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 3.39% to 895.50, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 2.76% to settle at 528.35 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 2.67% to close at 1,797.20.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.32% to 674.80 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 0.17% to settle at 1,754.60 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 0.10% to 149.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 988 to 837 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1656 rose and 1538 declined, while 142 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.22% to 18.13.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.19% or 3.25 to $1,720.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.89% or 0.85 to hit $95.83 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.81 to trade at $100.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 79.90, while EUR/INR rose 0.42% to 81.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 106.82.
