Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Green Energy, Banking and Carbon sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.92% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 3.93% or 72.25 points to trade at 1,911.25 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 3.40% or 210.00 points to end at 6,390.25 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was up 2.67% or 74.30 points to 2,862.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which lost 1.12% or 8.30 points to trade at 731.50 in late trade. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 1.01% or 11.55 points to end at 1,134.60 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) shed 0.76% or 5.90 points to 775.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 3.43% to 6,390.15, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was up 2.64% to settle at 2,862.35 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 2.08% to close at 1,727.20.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 0.98% to 1,134.10 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 0.76% to settle at 21,700.00 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 0.62% to 424.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1289 to 624 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2134 rose and 1259 declined, while 116 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.91% to 11.73.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.54% or 11.05 to $2,048.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.31% or 0.21 to hit $68.81 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.42 to trade at $72.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 81.76, while EUR/INR unchanged 0.00% to 90.41.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 101.07.
