Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Metals and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.87%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 4.96% or 55.10 points to trade at 1172.10 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.70% or 11.00 points to end at 245.50 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) was up 5.36% or 8.35 points to 163.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which lost 0.86% or 2.40 points to trade at 275.60 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 0.89% or 6.30 points to end at 702.75 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) shed 1.04% or 3.30 points to 314.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 4.59% to 175.35, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 3.43% to settle at 567.20 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which gained 2.71% to close at 339.45.
The worst performers were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 1.36% to 276.05 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 1.04% to settle at 271.95 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 0.56% to 267.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1058 to 538 and 41 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1582 rose and 973 declined, while 139 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.80% to 12.6450.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.05% or 0.60 to $1305.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.64% or 1.16 to hit $69.55 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.80% or 1.42 to trade at $77.37 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.70% to 67.785, while EUR/INR fell 0.78% to 79.4721.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.75.
