Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Auto and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.87%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.89%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which rose 4.04% or 351.20 points to trade at 9005.35 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 3.50% or 12.60 points to end at 372.05 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 3.25% or 42.30 points to 1344.25 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which lost 2.50% or 14.25 points to trade at 555.95 in late trade. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 1.36% or 15.70 points to end at 1138.60 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) shed 1.61% or 10.00 points to 612.45.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 3.41% to 9001.80, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 3.22% to settle at 372.05 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 2.94% to close at 1691.25.

The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.46% to 556.15 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 1.35% to settle at 3035.25 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.26% to 1141.05 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 949 to 662 and 29 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1555 rose and 1143 declined, while 156 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.57% to 13.6950 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.84% or 11.20 to $1341.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $63.58 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $67.03 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.48% to 64.695, while EUR/INR rose 0.48% to 79.9316.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 89.44.
