Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.82%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 3.46% or 7.20 points to trade at 215.55 at the close. AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) added 2.95% or 23.15 points to end at 808.70 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 2.95% or 6.65 points to 232.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which lost 1.54% or 50.30 points to trade at 3,223.65 in late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 1.53% or 50.50 points to end at 3,248.20 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) shed 0.97% or 41.60 points to 4,241.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 3.50% to 215.60, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.89% to settle at 808.40 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 2.42% to close at 164.90.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.60% to 3,247.60 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 0.92% to settle at 4,244.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.60% to 775.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 995 to 833 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1710 fell and 1576 advanced, while 130 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.54% to 20.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.56% or 9.40 to $1,676.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.28% or 0.25 to hit $89.60 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.49 to trade at $94.78 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 82.29, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 79.92.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 113.08.
