Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.80%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 4.89% or 31.60 points to trade at 678.20 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 3.69% or 17.90 points to end at 503.50 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was up 3.25% or 60.10 points to 1910.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which lost 3.90% or 16.25 points to trade at 400.80 in late trade. AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) declined 2.64% or 14.10 points to end at 520.05 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) shed 2.16% or 45.95 points to 2085.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 4.82% to 677.90, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 3.96% to settle at 504.30 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 3.46% to close at 1913.45.
The worst performers were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 2.69% to 519.80 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which lost 2.35% to settle at 2080.90 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.35% to 433.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 797 to 788 and 98 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1279 fell and 1223 advanced, while 196 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.29% to 23.2000.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.18% or 22.50 to $1887.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.31% or 0.87 to hit $38.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.29% or 0.91 to trade at $40.62 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.17% to 74.739, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 87.3255.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 93.755.
