Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Public Sector Undertakings and Carbon sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.76% to hit a new 6-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 11.74% or 71.15 points to trade at 677.00 at the close. AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) added 7.74% or 36.60 points to end at 509.65 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 4.88% or 24.25 points to 521.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which lost 2.87% or 8.30 points to trade at 281.00 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.34% or 73.60 points to end at 3068.15 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) shed 1.46% or 2.70 points to 182.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 8.43% to 656.60, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 7.73% to settle at 509.60 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 4.30% to close at 555.80.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.24% to 182.90 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.22% to settle at 934.85 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.05% to 7030.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 980 to 632 and 80 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1539 fell and 1158 advanced, while 150 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.90% to 18.3475 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.68% or 32.40 to $1965.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $43.04 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $45.58 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.79% to 73.312, while EUR/INR fell 0.14% to 87.2260.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 92.365.
