Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Green Energy, Banking and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.74% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which rose 5.43% or 31.40 points to trade at 609.55 at the close. SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) added 3.24% or 40.15 points to end at 1,281.25 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was up 2.32% or 111.60 points to 4,915.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which lost 1.97% or 7.65 points to trade at 381.30 in late trade. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 1.69% or 79.60 points to end at 4,641.95 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) shed 1.29% or 41.40 points to 3,174.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 2.33% to 4,916.75, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 2.21% to settle at 1,508.50 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 1.67% to close at 2,954.15.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.94% to 381.40 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 1.27% to settle at 3,175.25 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 0.32% to 245.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1205 to 723 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2013 rose and 1389 declined, while 122 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.17% to 10.84 a new 3-year low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.31% or 6.05 to $1,976.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.79% or 0.56 to hit $70.06 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.66% or 0.50 to trade at $75.17 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 81.93, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 89.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 101.77.
