Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Banking and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.71%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 4.68% or 28.50 points to trade at 637.85 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 2.88% or 20.75 points to end at 742.35 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 2.75% or 14.20 points to 530.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which lost 1.35% or 16.00 points to trade at 1172.00 in late trade. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) declined 1.11% or 78.85 points to end at 7050.00 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) shed 0.91% or 5.45 points to 594.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 4.89% to 638.70, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.45% to settle at 450.90 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 2.30% to close at 372.00.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 1.41% to 1172.00 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.02% to settle at 7051.00 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 0.85% to 181.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 969 to 628 and 85 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1541 rose and 1120 declined, while 152 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.80% to 20.5975.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.63% or 12.45 to $1976.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.85% or 0.69 to hit $37.95 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 0.63 to trade at $40.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.35% to 73.629, while EUR/INR rose 0.55% to 87.5520.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 92.860.
