Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Green Energy and Carbon sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.69% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which rose 4.90% or 300.50 points to trade at 6,431.20 at the close. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) added 3.87% or 56.75 points to end at 1,521.35 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 2.84% or 20.00 points to 725.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN), which lost 1.74% or 14.25 points to trade at 804.05 in late trade. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 1.74% or 26.60 points to end at 1,506.30 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) shed 1.09% or 1.65 points to 149.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 5.03% to 6,437.00, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was up 2.37% to settle at 2,296.55 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 2.34% to close at 1,392.85.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.73% to 1,506.30 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 1.19% to settle at 148.90 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 0.83% to 210.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 943 to 881 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1685 rose and 1510 declined, while 145 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.23% to 16.65 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.47% or 8.00 to $1,721.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.37% or 1.32 to hit $95.03 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 1.03 to trade at $102.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.17% to 79.91, while EUR/INR fell 0.60% to 81.18.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 106.98.
