Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals, Capital Goods and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.65%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 6.33% or 28.05 points to trade at 471.00 at the close. Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) added 5.86% or 6.15 points to end at 111.15 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 4.30% or 31.45 points to 763.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which lost 0.93% or 24.45 points to trade at 2,593.00 in late trade. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) declined 0.86% or 40.25 points to end at 4,643.80 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) shed 0.59% or 117.50 points to 19,780.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 5.86% to 111.15, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was up 1.72% to settle at 2,123.75 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 1.71% to close at 3,109.80.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.00% to 2,590.70 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 0.51% to settle at 19,794.95 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 0.45% to 333.05 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1494 to 405 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2474 rose and 895 declined, while 129 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.03% to 15.29.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.67% or 12.10 to $1,816.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.87% or 0.69 to hit $80.25 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.70 to trade at $85.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.23% to 82.84, while EUR/INR rose 0.49% to 88.33.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 103.69.
