Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Auto and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.65%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 8.37% or 28.35 points to trade at 358.35 at the close. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) added 4.06% or 103.50 points to end at 2654.85 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 3.11% or 5.05 points to 168.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 4.10% or 16.10 points to trade at 376.20 in late trade. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 3.87% or 6.50 points to end at 161.00 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) shed 2.44% or 3.80 points to 151.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 3.23% to 167.85, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was up 3.14% to settle at 2917.00 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which gained 2.70% to close at 81.70.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 3.99% to 161.05 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.43% to settle at 1049.30 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.46% to 6503.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 808 to 783 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1257 fell and 1214 advanced, while 159 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.34% to 14.6025.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.44% or 20.35 to $1393.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.36% or 1.38 to hit $59.85 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.29% or 1.48 to trade at $66.22 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 69.025, while EUR/INR fell 0.23% to 78.2085.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 96.072.
