Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Real Estate and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.61%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 6.63% or 2.55 points to trade at 41.00 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) added 5.85% or 6.65 points to end at 120.30 and GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) was up 2.82% or 3.55 points to 129.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 7.21% or 21.65 points to trade at 278.70 in late trade. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) declined 3.99% or 22.45 points to end at 540.50 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) shed 1.40% or 6.60 points to 465.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 2.98% to 1332.80, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 2.31% to settle at 566.80 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 2.26% to close at 323.25.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 1.24% to 768.45 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 0.59% to settle at 2193.45 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 0.40% to 1527.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 900 to 642 and 91 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1385 rose and 1026 declined, while 137 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.09% to 15.8550.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.21% or 3.20 to $1553.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.55% or 0.88 to hit $55.86 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.25% or 0.79 to trade at $62.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.37% to 71.330, while EUR/INR rose 0.34% to 79.0900.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 97.312.
