Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.57%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which rose 4.31% or 85.80 points to trade at 2077.85 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 3.94% or 17.80 points to end at 470.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 3.66% or 18.90 points to 535.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 4.09% or 1.15 points to trade at 26.95 in late trade. NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) declined 3.70% or 3.35 points to end at 87.10 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) shed 3.66% or 14.65 points to 386.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 4.81% to 2088.35, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 3.89% to settle at 17799.95 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 3.77% to close at 535.50.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 3.98% to 86.90 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 3.87% to settle at 385.25 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.56% to 383.25 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 880 to 614 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1236 fell and 968 advanced, while 170 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.81% to 38.4075.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.38% or 6.60 to $1732.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.80% or 0.66 to hit $24.21 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 0.54 to trade at $30.00 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.27% to 75.582, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 81.9460.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 99.767.
