Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Power, Capital Goods and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.53% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 4.18% or 767.40 points to trade at 19121.00 at the close. Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 4.12% or 14.30 points to end at 361.10 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was up 4.08% or 22.80 points to 581.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which lost 1.77% or 3.45 points to trade at 191.00 in late trade. Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) declined 1.76% or 5.90 points to end at 329.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) shed 1.48% or 7.30 points to 487.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 4.05% to 581.10, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was up 2.52% to settle at 2941.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 1.93% to close at 2200.00.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.55% to 487.00 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.49% to settle at 329.95 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.26% to 1076.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 875 to 743 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1307 fell and 1258 advanced, while 136 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.79% to 25.7675 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.22% or 4.00 to $1786.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.40% or 0.57 to hit $40.08 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.62 to trade at $42.52 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 74.666, while EUR/INR fell 0.17% to 83.8535.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.267.
