Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.52%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 6.77% or 4.85 points to trade at 76.50 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 4.78% or 38.75 points to end at 849.75 and GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) was up 3.54% or 3.45 points to 100.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC), which lost 3.60% or 84.00 points to trade at 2250.80 in late trade. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) declined 2.49% or 11.95 points to end at 468.25 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) shed 2.02% or 12.25 points to 595.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 6.56% to 76.30, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 3.94% to settle at 842.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 3.22% to close at 1138.55.
The worst performers were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 3.42% to 2254.00 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 2.48% to settle at 468.30 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.99% to 595.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 994 to 634 and 96 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1626 rose and 1116 declined, while 174 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.02% to 20.7975.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.40% or 7.55 to $1864.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.49% or 0.63 to hit $43.05 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.69% or 0.76 to trade at $45.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 74.042, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 87.9360.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 92.172.
