Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.51% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 4.98% or 73.45 points to trade at 1,548.80 at the close. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) added 4.05% or 205.40 points to end at 5,283.05 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was up 3.73% or 9.45 points to 262.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which lost 2.65% or 87.55 points to trade at 3,222.20 in late trade. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) declined 1.85% or 12.45 points to end at 661.15 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) shed 1.27% or 127.30 points to 9,865.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 4.97% to 1,548.70, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 3.79% to settle at 262.85 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 2.07% to close at 2,638.35.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.40% to 9,854.70 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.23% to settle at 1,180.40 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 0.85% to 7,771.45 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1193 to 731 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1956 rose and 1374 declined, while 142 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.36% to 11.84.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.12% or 2.35 to $1,929.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.22% or 0.16 to hit $71.95 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.08 to trade at $76.73 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 82.45, while EUR/INR rose 0.37% to 89.78.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 102.72.
