Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Capital Goods and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.50%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.37%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which rose 9.48% or 69.05 points to trade at 797.70 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 4.90% or 29.45 points to end at 629.90 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 4.84% or 44.30 points to 959.95 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which lost 2.19% or 477.35 points to trade at 21330.00 in late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 1.23% or 22.25 points to end at 1784.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) shed 1.20% or 80.00 points to 6599.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 4.95% to 630.30, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was up 4.84% to settle at 960.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 3.47% to close at 544.05.

The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.26% to 2119.60 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.17% to settle at 1783.95 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.16% to 6602.00 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1119 to 513 and 80 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1644 rose and 941 declined, while 152 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.30% to 22.5100 a new 3-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for October delivery was up 0.57% or 11.45 to $2029.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.29% or 0.53 to hit $41.75 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.38 to trade at $44.78 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.11% to 74.928, while EUR/INR fell 0.43% to 88.0785.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 93.602.
