Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Real Estate and Green Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.45% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which rose 2.72% or 37.70 points to trade at 1,423.00 at the close. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) added 2.24% or 14.60 points to end at 667.00 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) was up 2.22% or 47.75 points to 2,197.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which lost 3.84% or 13.35 points to trade at 334.40 in late trade. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 3.31% or 6.55 points to end at 191.30 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) shed 1.36% or 5.35 points to 386.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 1.39% to 3,392.20, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 1.37% to settle at 126.15 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 1.36% to close at 1,203.85.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 0.66% to 249.30 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 0.63% to settle at 1,203.95 and LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which was down 0.59% to 5,524.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1137 to 925 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1942 rose and 1647 declined, while 132 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.70% to 12.23 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.53% or 10.40 to $1,990.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.30% or 0.23 to hit $77.60 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.24 to trade at $82.08 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 83.33, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 91.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 103.21.
