Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, IT and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.44%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which rose 6.43% or 27.90 points to trade at 461.90 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 2.67% or 37.95 points to end at 1,460.00 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was up 2.37% or 148.00 points to 6,394.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which lost 1.83% or 38.10 points to trade at 2,047.50 in late trade. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) declined 1.07% or 18.00 points to end at 1,668.70 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) shed 1.04% or 76.55 points to 7,290.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which rose 6.59% to 462.70, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 2.83% to settle at 1,462.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 2.01% to close at 10,214.90.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.13% to 636.65 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 1.00% to settle at 7,295.25 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 0.98% to 993.85 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.36% to 13.71.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.64% or 13.20 to $2,064.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.54% or 0.40 to hit $73.49 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.21 to trade at $78.80 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 83.17, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 91.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 101.36.
