Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Real Estate and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.40%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 2.98% or 7.35 points to trade at 253.85 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 2.82% or 11.75 points to end at 427.85 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 2.56% or 102.60 points to 4097.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 2.53% or 10.55 points to trade at 406.50 in late trade. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 1.77% or 8.85 points to end at 491.85 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) shed 1.56% or 5.90 points to 371.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which rose 2.96% to 253.70, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was up 1.60% to settle at 390.45 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 1.58% to close at 2959.40.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.25% to 406.50 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.43% to settle at 493.40 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 0.71% to 215.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1064 to 482 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1609 rose and 873 declined, while 144 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.11% to 12.8875.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.95 to $1337.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.31% or 0.62 to hit $47.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.32 to trade at $52.66 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 64.103, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 76.2910.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 92.48.
