Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals, Auto and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.40% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 4.17% or 9.60 points to trade at 239.00 at the close. Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 2.34% or 8.85 points to end at 386.95 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was up 2.40% or 31.00 points to 1319.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which lost 4.83% or 18.50 points to trade at 364.25 in late trade. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) declined 3.24% or 12.40 points to end at 370.60 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) shed 1.89% or 4.95 points to 256.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 2.20% to 230.40, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was up 2.20% to settle at 387.30 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 2.06% to close at 1318.20.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 3.07% to 371.35 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.07% to settle at 304.95 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.04% to 1773.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 973 to 636 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1472 fell and 1134 advanced, while 168 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.53% to 12.4250.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.35% or 4.20 to $1220.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $68.98 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.37 to trade at $76.87 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.23% to 70.118, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 82.0215.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 94.57.
