Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Auto and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.39%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which rose 6.34% or 111.30 points to trade at 1866.65 at the close. Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) added 4.99% or 775.25 points to end at 16300.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was up 4.82% or 100.10 points to 2175.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which lost 6.11% or 15.10 points to trade at 232.05 in late trade. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) declined 4.62% or 1.75 points to end at 36.15 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) shed 4.61% or 10.10 points to 208.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 6.32% to 1867.40, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 5.30% to settle at 16243.50 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 5.06% to close at 2178.50.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 5.09% to 207.70 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 2.86% to settle at 2103.15 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 2.04% to 579.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 968 to 583 and 81 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1429 fell and 916 advanced, while 172 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.25% to 15.7825.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.27% or 4.25 to $1583.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $51.66 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.26 to trade at $56.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.13% to 71.449, while EUR/INR fell 0.31% to 79.0865.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 97.468.
