Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.34%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 4.52% or 7.10 points to trade at 164.30 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 3.58% or 14.50 points to end at 419.50 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 2.88% or 11.30 points to 403.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which lost 4.26% or 151.30 points to trade at 3401.85 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 2.23% or 61.00 points to end at 2678.00 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) shed 1.76% or 57.00 points to 3180.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 4.64% to 164.50, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 3.54% to settle at 419.20 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 3.04% to close at 403.90.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.17% to 2678.95 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.54% to settle at 16002.00 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.50% to 2123.25 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 806 to 784 and 94 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1331 rose and 1247 declined, while 168 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.99% to 22.9150.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 6.30 to $1921.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.63% or 0.68 to hit $41.02 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 0.63 to trade at $42.53 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.32% to 73.674, while EUR/INR rose 0.64% to 87.3580.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 92.743.
