Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Metals, Capital Goods and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.33%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which rose 4.86% or 31.25 points to trade at 674.45 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.72% or 18.60 points to end at 412.65 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 4.59% or 10.25 points to 233.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 2.49% or 20.10 points to trade at 788.60 in late trade. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 2.02% or 53.95 points to end at 2,614.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) shed 1.51% or 18.35 points to 1,200.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 2.27% to 103.45, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was up 2.24% to settle at 1,913.40 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 2.04% to close at 885.35.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.53% to 788.20 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 2.08% to settle at 2,611.90 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.52% to 1,200.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1317 to 527 and 44 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2257 rose and 1054 declined, while 120 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.30% to 19.32.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.90 to $1,722.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.26% or 0.23 to hit $87.53 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.21 to trade at $93.16 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.68% to 82.19, while EUR/INR rose 0.71% to 81.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 111.29.
