Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Real Estate and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.31%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 4.31% or 21.15 points to trade at 512.40 at the close. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) added 3.47% or 24.45 points to end at 730.85 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was up 3.71% or 9.30 points to 259.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which lost 2.83% or 75.65 points to trade at 2602.35 in late trade. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 2.36% or 4.55 points to end at 187.95 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) shed 2.48% or 3.80 points to 149.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 3.57% to 4018.75, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 2.05% to settle at 141.60 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 1.88% to close at 2051.00.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 2.73% to 2603.00 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 2.44% to settle at 149.70 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 2.04% to 1765.70 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 817 to 756 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1266 fell and 1096 advanced, while 180 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.91% to 16.3600.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 3.10 to $1486.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $52.84 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.09 to trade at $58.65 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 71.484, while EUR/INR unchanged 0.00% to 78.8610.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 98.053.
