Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.30%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 5.42% or 36.70 points to trade at 713.50 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) added 2.44% or 79.85 points to end at 3,357.10 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 2.20% or 22.45 points to 1,041.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which lost 4.80% or 58.45 points to trade at 1,159.95 in late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 2.24% or 71.85 points to end at 3,140.90 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) shed 1.57% or 68.75 points to 4,320.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 2.22% to 1,017.45, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 2.14% to settle at 1,041.00 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.89% to close at 167.10.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 4.71% to 1,161.00 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 2.26% to settle at 3,141.55 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 1.50% to 6,301.70 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 956 to 839 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1705 fell and 1549 advanced, while 133 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.46% to 17.23 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.50% or 8.20 to $1,642.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.92% or 1.62 to hit $86.14 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.51% or 1.40 to trade at $93.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.42% to 82.67, while EUR/INR fell 0.17% to 80.98.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 112.64.
