Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.27%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which rose 4.65% or 10.45 points to trade at 235.40 at the close. Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) added 3.00% or 54.75 points to end at 1879.80 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 2.26% or 70.20 points to 3178.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK), which lost 1.73% or 26.95 points to trade at 1526.85 in late trade. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 1.35% or 32.40 points to end at 2373.15 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) shed 1.00% or 194.35 points to 19284.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 4.60% to 235.30, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was up 3.06% to settle at 1879.70 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 2.23% to close at 3178.60.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.67% to 1527.50 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 1.32% to settle at 2373.45 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.99% to 19283.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1128 to 637 and 42 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2050 rose and 1133 declined, while 119 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.84% to 16.6025.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.06% or 1.05 to $1784.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.26% or 0.19 to hit $72.17 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.33 to trade at $75.49 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.29% to 75.576, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 85.4990.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 96.127.
