Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Banking and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.23%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 2.14% or 5.85 points to trade at 279.65 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 2.26% or 34.35 points to end at 1552.20 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 1.49% or 11.00 points to 750.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which lost 2.91% or 77.30 points to trade at 2580.70 in late trade. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) declined 2.37% or 3.40 points to end at 139.90 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) shed 1.79% or 3.50 points to 191.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 1.90% to 1550.90, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 1.69% to settle at 3511.40 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 1.49% to close at 644.00.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 2.37% to 139.95 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 2.22% to settle at 191.20 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 1.47% to 264.35 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 955 to 624 and 65 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1370 fell and 1021 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.30% to 14.8575 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.34% or 4.55 to $1338.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.87% or 0.46 to hit $53.05 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.53 to trade at $62.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.57% to 69.515, while EUR/INR rose 0.41% to 78.2760.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.047.
