Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which rose 2.95% or 133.40 points to trade at 4,651.00 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 2.66% or 21.30 points to end at 822.70 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) was up 2.50% or 61.85 points to 2,537.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which lost 1.40% or 5.60 points to trade at 394.10 in late trade. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 1.03% or 5.35 points to end at 514.85 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) shed 0.91% or 24.35 points to 2,647.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 2.75% to 823.00, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 1.76% to settle at 441.10 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 1.17% to close at 1,932.45.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.35% to 394.20 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 0.79% to settle at 944.70 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 0.79% to 2,649.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1053 to 864 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1808 rose and 1569 declined, while 113 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.52% to 12.52.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.65 to $1,962.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.68% or 1.25 to hit $73.09 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 1.20 to trade at $77.16 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.09% to 82.76, while EUR/INR fell 0.13% to 88.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 104.01.
