Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Technology and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 5.05% or 8.80 points to trade at 183.00 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 4.80% or 8.70 points to end at 189.80 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 4.29% or 36.25 points to 881.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which lost 5.82% or 219.55 points to trade at 3552.90 in late trade. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 2.60% or 1.80 points to end at 67.50 and GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) shed 2.29% or 2.00 points to 85.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 4.19% to 880.05, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 3.13% to settle at 850.80 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 2.92% to close at 2131.00.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 2.67% to 67.40 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.44% to settle at 157.45 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.22% to 80.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 833 to 752 and 106 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1327 rose and 1270 declined, while 160 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.00% to 22.6900.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 2.65 to $1909.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.54% or 0.22 to hit $41.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.14 to trade at $42.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 73.459, while EUR/INR rose 0.57% to 86.7950.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 93.170.
