Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Durables and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.18% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which rose 3.11% or 271.25 points to trade at 9,004.00 at the close. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) added 2.34% or 127.05 points to end at 5,549.00 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was up 2.23% or 15.10 points to 690.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which lost 1.59% or 38.05 points to trade at 2,358.55 in late trade. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 1.20% or 10.05 points to end at 825.50 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) shed 1.18% or 17.45 points to 1,466.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 3.14% to 9,000.65, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.19% to settle at 1,227.15 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.91% to close at 1,014.55.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.19% to 1,466.35 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 0.95% to settle at 3,120.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.02% to 208.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1052 to 1047 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1808 rose and 1775 declined, while 139 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.14% to 12.69.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.39% or 8.00 to $2,039.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.00% or 0.78 to hit $78.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.83 to trade at $83.71 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 83.37, while EUR/INR fell 0.48% to 90.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 103.24.
