Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.16%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which rose 3.43% or 139.80 points to trade at 4,210.75 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 2.89% or 30.95 points to end at 1,102.00 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 1.68% or 2.25 points to 136.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 1.24% or 4.15 points to trade at 329.55 in late trade. Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) declined 1.01% or 35.65 points to end at 3,496.65 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) shed 0.98% or 1.05 points to 106.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.86% to 1,101.60, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.29% to settle at 160.40 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 0.92% to close at 1,893.30.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 0.93% to 106.55 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 0.86% to settle at 3,255.35 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 0.80% to 2,460.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1173 to 629 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2034 rose and 1242 declined, while 137 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.25% to 18.43.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.16% or 2.75 to $1,758.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.63% or 0.59 to hit $94.33 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.56 to trade at $100.78 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 79.84, while EUR/INR fell 0.44% to 79.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 108.82.
