Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 2.47% or 80.65 points to trade at 3,340.55 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 2.44% or 10.35 points to end at 435.20 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 2.39% or 31.80 points to 1,365.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which lost 3.55% or 8.95 points to trade at 243.10 in late trade. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) declined 1.91% or 188.25 points to end at 9,647.55 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) shed 1.86% or 4.35 points to 230.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 2.47% to 3,340.65, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 2.40% to settle at 1,365.30 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 1.51% to close at 1,616.30.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 3.63% to 243.15 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.86% to settle at 9,653.20 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.44% to 187.95 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1310 to 635 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2050 fell and 1278 advanced, while 136 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was unchanged 0.02% to 10.94.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.17% or 3.25 to $1,964.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.24% or 0.18 to hit $75.93 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.25 to trade at $80.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 82.09, while EUR/INR rose 0.44% to 91.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 99.97.
