Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 2.38% or 141.50 points to trade at 6,075.25 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) added 2.37% or 42.65 points to end at 1,844.60 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) was up 2.30% or 99.00 points to 4,410.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which lost 3.25% or 17.80 points to trade at 529.75 in late trade. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) declined 2.08% or 15.20 points to end at 714.65 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) shed 1.42% or 24.00 points to 1,664.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 2.38% to 6,074.00, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 2.03% to settle at 1,345.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.76% to close at 1,121.50.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.47% to 1,663.60 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which lost 1.15% to settle at 2,755.75 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 0.90% to 996.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 986 to 925 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1795 rose and 1614 declined, while 113 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.26% to 11.52 a new 3-year low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.29% or 5.80 to $1,994.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.53% or 0.42 to hit $78.34 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.48% or 0.40 to trade at $82.14 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 81.92, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 90.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 101.18.
