Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.14% to hit a new 6-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 2.93% or 32.40 points to trade at 1139.20 at the close. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) added 2.74% or 4.60 points to end at 172.45 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 1.95% or 9.70 points to 507.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 4.99% or 10.00 points to trade at 190.55 in late trade. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 2.81% or 11.95 points to end at 413.25 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) shed 2.74% or 8.00 points to 284.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 2.59% to 172.20, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 2.23% to settle at 1132.30 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 1.69% to close at 2085.00.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.83% to 413.10 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 1.65% to settle at 1213.40 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.63% to 69.20 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1133 to 492 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1702 fell and 899 advanced, while 180 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.67% to 21.1275.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 1.15 to $1927.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.63% or 0.66 to hit $39.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.38% or 0.59 to trade at $42.26 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.41% to 73.312, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 86.5190.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 93.200.
