Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 5.69% or 8.40 points to trade at 155.90 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 5.49% or 58.85 points to end at 1,130.25 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) was up 3.39% or 152.25 points to 4,640.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 1.65% or 5.45 points to trade at 325.70 in late trade. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) declined 0.90% or 29.65 points to end at 3,281.50 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) shed 0.87% or 4.50 points to 514.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 5.58% to 1,130.60, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 1.64% to settle at 19,562.05 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 1.50% to close at 112.00.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.86% to 2,526.25 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 0.82% to settle at 1,367.85 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.78% to 861.05 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1054 to 849 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1774 rose and 1554 declined, while 167 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.23% to 12.89.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.12% or 2.30 to $1,847.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.43% or 0.34 to hit $78.25 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.43 to trade at $84.95 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 82.70, while EUR/INR rose 0.12% to 88.56.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 103.59.
