Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Real Estate and Green Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.09% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 3.21% or 34.55 points to trade at 1,109.30 at the close. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) added 2.86% or 14.80 points to end at 531.85 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 2.69% or 84.15 points to 3,212.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which lost 2.74% or 39.10 points to trade at 1,389.20 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 2.08% or 23.05 points to end at 1,086.85 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 2.07% or 22.65 points to 1,071.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 3.15% to 1,108.90, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 1.74% to settle at 231.15 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 1.62% to close at 864.60.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 2.79% to 1,388.60 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 2.13% to settle at 1,086.50 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 2.09% to 1,071.85 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1027 to 890 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1851 rose and 1520 declined, while 115 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.97% to 11.91.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.76% or 15.45 to $2,040.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.50% or 0.42 to hit $82.84 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.48 to trade at $86.85 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.16% to 81.84, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 90.16.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 101.03.
