Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Food sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 3.13% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which rose 13.60% or 0.119 points to trade at 0.994 at the close. Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr) added 7.18% or 0.91 points to end at 13.58 and Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH) was up 5.97% or 0.080 points to 1.420 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ThesKi Water (AT:TWSr), which lost 4.19% or 0.15 points to trade at 3.43 in late trade. Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) declined 3.47% or 0.027 points to end at 0.750 and Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr) shed 3.45% or 0.0500 points to 1.4000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 80 to 18 and 15 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.33% or 4.15 to $1262.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.82% or 0.79 to hit $44.23 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.07% or 1.34 to trade at $44.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1392, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7881.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.12.
